1st-3rd Grade Teachers

Corona-Hooper, Maria     1st Grade (Room 9)

     Mrs. Corona-Hooper has worked for LAUSD for over 30 years. She has been teaching for 29 years. She has taught 4th grade, 2nd grade, and 1st grade. She received her B.A. and M.A. from CSUDH. She was the first member in her family to attend and graduate from college. She loves to go on camping trips with her family, go on nature walks, and learn new things everyday. She has been training in  martial arts for 6 years and hopes to one day earn her black belt in karate.


Heuser, Janniel               2nd Grade (Room 16)

Mrs. Heuser has been teaching for 2.5 years in 2nd grade at Van Deene. She attended Cal State LA and University of Phoenix. BA (English), MaEd (Education)


Diaz, Angel                       3rd Grade (Room 15)

Mrs. Diaz have been teaching at Van Deene for 19 years, and has taught every grade level except kindergarten. She has a master’s degree in education from CSU Long Beach.


Gutierrez, Maria.             1st Grade (Room 10)

Attended: CSUDH.       Teaching: for 12 years.               I am passionate about my work ( coffee helps) because I love what I do. Teaching is my passion, Family is my life. I am a mother (and many times a taxi driver, nurse, psychologist, chef ...😁) and a grandmother. I have 2 sons in college, a daughter in high school and a handsome grandson that is 1 1/2  years old. “The first day I stepped into a classroom... the lightbulbs came on and I knew I was home.”



Orlin, Andria                   2nd Grade (Room 20)

Miss. Orlin has been teaching for 24 years, 21 at Van Deene. She has had the opportunity to teach grades 1-5. She received a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from U.C. Irvine and a teaching credential from Cal. State University Dominguez Hills.

Diaz, Rafael                      3rd Grade (Room 19)

Mr. Diaz decided to become a teacher when he took an  undergraduate work study class in Santa Ana. He taught for 27 years grades 1st-3rd. He's a  graduated of University of California, Irvine and attended  Bishop Montgomery High School. Go Knights! He enjoys playing tennis, taking walks, and spending time with friends/family.
