4th-6th Grade Teachers & RST

Lisa Andrews-Garcia.       Grade 4 (room 29)

I have been teaching elementary school for 14 years. I’ve taught 2nd, 4th and 5th grades.  I received my bachelor’s degree from the University  of Colorado at Denver and my masters in Public Administration from California State University at  Northridge. My philosophy on teaching is that every child can learn if the curriculum is engaging and appropriate for that child , as all children do not learn the same way. It is an honor and a privilege to teach your children and I’m forever grateful for the opportunity.

Elizabeth Cowlishaw          4th Grade (room 21)

I taught at Pinecrest and Viewpoint private school before coming to LAUSD. My first LAUSD school was Noble Avenue, in Panorama City. I moved to the South Bay, because I transferred to teach at 96th Street in Watts, when it was part of the "Ten Schools Program."  Prior to teaching at VanDeene, I was. a Literacy Coach at Taper and a Literacy/Math Coach at Normont. I have taught every grade, PreK-6, except third. A couple of the exciting things I've done during my career were being on an Advisory Board for McMillan McGraw-Hill and traveling to New Zealand to view their "Whole Child, Child Centered" instruction in schools, along with visiting the Ministry of Education and educational publishers.

Alondra Agauyo  Resource Specialist (room )

I grew up in the small town of Madera, which is in the Central Valley. I moved to Southern California right after high school to attend UCLA. Go Bruins!  I earned my bachelor's in Sociology and Chicana/o studies.  Later, I earned a master's in special education and my administrative credential from CSU Dominguez Hills. I have been teaching for almost 14 years. Before becoming a Resource teacher, I taught math and science in a special day class at the middle school level.  I am so fortunate to work at Van Deene.  I enjoy working with my students and collaborating with other teachers.
